FITS OM: Full overview of FITS OM

The goal of FITS OM is the highly predictable and reliable execution of day-to-day tasks in ICT operations management, both manual and automated. FITS OM includes functions regularly applied to managing the technology in the ICT infrastructure (these functions may be included in service level commitments defined by the FITS Service Level Management process).

Your school will need to adapt and adopt the FITS OM functions according to your technical support resources and the configuration of your network. You should therefore use the technical manuals supplied with your equipment or any such in-house documents alongside the FITS OM guidance.

The diagram shows the relationships between the FITS OM functions

The diagram above shows the relationships between the FITS OM functions. Systems Administration is the overarching function that guides the performance of each of the others. These other functions share equal importance in the day-to-day operations management, for a lapse in any one function could affect the availability and reliability of your ICT services.
