We asked schools a range of other questions about their ICT. This section looks at some of the additional findings from the survey.

Of particular interest in this section is the range of responses that were received when we asked schools to tell us about the single most significant problem that they experience with ICT systems in the school.

The largest number of problems relate to the technology in one way or another, with poor reliability of systems being a major complaint. This is an area of concern for primary schools more than for secondaries. Funding issues came second, with a substantial number of schools reporting insufficient funding for equipment, or for ICT generally.

The third largest area of problems relates to technical support. This is a particularly significant area for primary schools with many reporting insufficient technical support or a need for a technician.

There are two areas where secondary schools show substantially more concern than primaries. One is security where issues concerning network security were particularly prominent. The other is in relation to the internet, with low connection speed being the most commonly reported issue.
