Becta have produced a self-assessment tool that enables ICT Technicians to review their skills and knowledge. Details of the Competences Framework can be found here.

The ICT Support Analysis Tool allows users to take an institutional view of ICT support so that gaps and weaknesses can be identified. It is based on the same structure as the Competences Framework, but functions have been drawn together into broader tasks. Users are given the opportunity to select the provider employed for each of these tasks; a final report details the sources of support indicated for each task.

Becta's Framework for ICT Technical Support ('FITS') provides a toolkit of advice, checklists and downloads to help schools implement best practice technical support. FITS provides a structured approach for technical support whether it is provided in-house or by and external supplier.
